dirtjoy

Hi, I'm Zoe.

I'm a photographer based in Bethlehem, PA. You can see my work at zoeschaeffer.com. I'm also part of the flower crew at Pasture Song Farm in nearby Pottstown, PA.

I grew up in Washington, D.C. and spent six formative years in the concrete understory of Manhattan, but I'm happiest outdoors in the quiet. I'm an artist, a farmer, and a student and teacher of yoga. I live for color, light, fresh air, and that bone-tired feeling I get from working my body hard outdoors.

dirtjoy is my personal blog and the storefront for my jewelry.

I come from at least three generations of fine artists, and I've been making images with a camera since I was a kid. I started metalsmithing in early 2020 as way to revive my creativity.

I get a lot of joy from learning new skills and creating beautiful things with my hands. I get even more joy sharing that beauty with others.

I believe in creating for the sake of creating. I believe in beauty for the sake of beauty. I believe in the balance of all things: inner and outer, masculine and feminine, grit and grace.

I write and make jewelry to offer a little piece of me and these inspirations to you.
